Mike Van Kooy, Supervisor, Guelph Transit
Michael Van Kooy is involved with all aspects of Guelph Transits Fleet Electrification project. This includes planning requirements, Bus orders, infrastructure, product implementation, inspections, training, and telematics. Guelph Transit has ordered Eleven LFSe+ Battery electric buses (BEB’s) from Nova Bus and has installed our charging infrastructure with depot charging from Siemens. Guelph Transit has started our implementation of a full fleet conversion to Zero emission buses (ZEB’s), Battery Electric Buses (BEB’s) as per the City of Guelph’s long-term initiatives.
Michael’s portfolio in Guelph includes being a Licensed Automotive Technician, Licensed Natural Gas and Propane Fitter, Automotive Dealership Manager, Transit Supervisor and currently “Fleet Electrification and Facilities” Supervisor, with 14 years’ experience at Guelph Transit. Educated in Business Operations, Project Management (PM), Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP).
Michael is a member of the Ontario Public Transit Association (OPTA), the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) and the Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC). Michael Is passionate regarding all aspects of public Transportation and public services.
When not at work Michael gets outside and enjoys everything the great outdoors has to offer.
