V.P. Fleet, Maintenance & Facilities, TOK Transit

With over 40 years of experience with the TTC and York Region Transit (YRT), Dave is a proven leader in the field of transit fleet maintenance and facilities. He has extensive hands-on experience in every aspect of the industry, from maintaining vehicles on the shop floor to developing and managing multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets. Dave has proven project management experience including the operational design, configuration and specification of all program equipment for two Design-Build Operations and Maintenance facilities. While at YRT, Dave delivered the award-winning LEED OMSF Orlando facility in Markham to service both the Viva BRT and conventional fleets.

In addition to facility and operational design Dave has considerable expertise in data analytics, KPI development, process and procedure development, facility and equipment review, maintenance practices review, and maintenance needs assessment. He has piloted pedestrian and collision avoidance technologies, developed plans for piloting all-electric buses, and introduced solar-powered technologies to significantly reduce infrastructure and utility costs. Knowledgeable in alternative fuel technologies, Dave champions greening and fuel reduction technologies including innovations such as electric bus and autonomous technologies.

In his current role with the TOK Group Dave is fully involved in all aspects of maintenance and support for the YRT electric bus fleet. TOK also operates and maintains the Billy Bishop Airport Shuttle service to Union Station and in 2021, Nieuport, the owner/operator of the island airport chose to electrify this service. Dave, as the project lead, managed the key aspects of the vehicle selection process, charger and infrastructure selection, training, tools, PMI’s, SOP’s etc. Six Vicinity Lightning vehicles, supported by PowerON will be going into service in August 2023.
