Operations and Transit Coordinator for the Town of Collingwood
Kris Wiszniak is the Operations and Transit Coordinator for the Town of Collingwood with 17 years experience in small scale transit and public works operations. Kris understands the challenges that small municipalities can face with the operation small scale transit; specifically budgets, staffing resources, procurement, and policy development. While balancing competing priorities in a multi-faceted position, Kris has played a key role in the implementation and expansion of transit services in the South Georgian Bay region. The development of two inter-municipal transit routes, as well as the formation of private-public partnerships are among some of the key successes Kris has achieved in his role. Kris understands the need for public transportation in small towns and rural settings to aid in access to affordable housing and job labour markets especially in the current economic climate. The Town of Collingwood is responsible for the operation of five fixed conventional transit routes and has recently launched a cross boundary specialized transit service with their partners at The Town of Wasaga Beach and Clearview Township. Kris resides in Collingwood with his wife and two children, who actively enjoy all that Collingwood and South Georgian Bay have to offer.
