Session Description
An overview of the different data sources and the challenges in using them. Case studies of how transit agencies have proactively responded to customer demand by taking a deeper look into their data. Best practices in which kind of metrics agencies should track as to better reflect the customer experience and improve their responsiveness to customer demand, with the objective that transit staff consider tracking at least one new relevant metric in their existing dashboards.
Many transit systems in Canada have adopted on-demand services to better meet the needs of their service area. CUTA and Dillon Consulting worked together to understand what metrics and KPIs transit systems were using to monitor their on-demand programs. The final report gives an overview of what commonalities exist, and presents opportunities for harmonizing metrics across systems. It is hoped that this will inform the standardization of metrics, updates to the CUTA Fact Book, and improvements in reporting.
